Also known as: Lebanon Cedar, True Cedar
Botanical Name: Cedrus libani
Origin: Europe, Asia, North Africa
Description: Logs from these very long-lived trees are not easy to find in good, sound quality and can often be knotty. Those for veneer production are carefully selected. Usually they are quartered since the main demand is for good clean straight-grained material. The veneer has a strong aromatic odour, particularly when fresh. Traditionally used for the interiors of cabinets, especially wardrobes, blanket chests and the like as the scent is said to deter moths. Also used for high quality architectural interiors, panelling etc.
