Botanical Name: Dalbergia greveana, D. baronii, D. madagascariensis
Description: Colour may vary quite considerably from log to log depending on the actual species. Most veneer is from D. greveana. Pinky brown, sometimes with purple or mauve veining, Madagascar Rosewood is somewhat quieter in overall appearance than most other rosewood types. Supply of logs is not plentiful, felling being much more carefully controlled in recent years. As with all highly prized veneers, the main uses are for high quality cabinet work and architectural interior decoration.
